New Puppy or Dog Shower “Guess What’s in the Bag Game!”
Gather small dog (or pet) items small enough to fit into the Spring Puppies Bag loosely.
Dog Item Ideas: (Hint: Print and assemble a test bag to make sure each
item fits in the bag. Then print as many bags as you need, one bag per item.)
|
• Dog treat. Save the rest of the box to give the new dog owner after the party. • Dog tag • Dog collar • Bandana or scarf, small enough clothing or a doggy hat or booties • Small dog toy. If you plan to give the dog toy as a gift after the party, then make sure the breed they have can have small toys • Pieces of dog food. Save the rest of the bag to give the dog food to the new dog owner after the party. |
• Cut off a small piece of a puppy training pad. Save the new puppy training pads to give to the new dog owner as a gift later.
• Dog tooth brush.
• Link roll filler for the dog hair.
• Very small can or bag of single serving dog food.
Or other small dog-related item will work as long as it fits inside the bag loosely.
You can have friends plan this together so everyone can pitch in on this
items for the bags to give as gifts later to the new puppy or dog owner. Like a
baby shower can have several hostesses.
Depending on how many dog items you have decided to use print the same number
of Spring Puppies Bags. (Optional: You can print a variety of bags offered at
Scribbler Dog to have different bags for different dog items.) Assemble the bags and
before inserting the items, write a number on each bag. Then make a list of what
is in each bag (such as, Bag #1: dog toy, Bag #2: dog tag). This will be the
“answer key” to use at the end of the game.
Put one item in each bag; add a small bit of cotton (pull apart a cotton ball),
or shredded paper in the bag and seal. This will make it harder for the guest to
guess what in the bag. If the dog item has sharp or hard edges, then
wrap in some plastic wrap or put in a plastic sandwich bag before putting it in
the bag.
At the dog shower give each guest a piece of paper and pen. Pass the bags
around, one at a time, and have each person write down their guess of what is in
the bag.
After all the bags are passed around and everyone has written down their
guesses, use the answer key to call out the item in each bag. Have the guests
score their own guesses. The game winner is the person who has the most correct
guesses.
As an alternative, when everyone has guessed what is in the bag, have the new
pet owner open each bag to show what is in the bag. Each guest scores their own answers.
(Be sure to have the rest of what goes with each item to give to dog owner.)
Bonus Bag! Squeeze a small bit of dog shampoo into a sealable sandwich bag. Seal the bag, squeezing out air as you seal it.
Make sure that there is enough lotion or ointment in the plastic bag to make it
“squishy” when you feel it. Anyone who guesses what it is wins a prize!
As an alternative for younger kids (but also suitable for older kids).
Have the children get in a circle, then have the children take turns going to
the center of the room where an parent, adult or older child will be seated to hand out bags, one bag to each. If the child can guess what in the bag
then they get one point. If not, then the next child comes into the circle to
guess what’s in the bag. Who ever gets the most points win.
To make the Spring Puppies Bag, basically do this: Print, fold in half on
fold line, fold sides in toward “© Scribbler Dog” on the marked lines, tape
sides shut, fill, fold top down and tape closed. This bag is very simple to
make, however we do recommend reading the more detailed directions shown below.
These are more detailed step-by-step instructions:
1. Print, and then fold bag on the line marked number 1. Note that the bag might not fold
exactly in the middle of the page depending on your printer settings; however it is
recommended that you use the fold line.
2. Lay the bag so that “© by ScribblerDog.com or licensors. Terms see MomsBreakInc.com” is face up.
3. Fold the two lines marked number 2 inward. Tape or glue these side tabs.
4. Fill the bag with your bag fillers (i.e., dog treats, gift card,
etc - see ideas section.).
5. Fold down remaining top flap (marked number 3) to close the bag. Tape or glue
closed. Note that you may have to fold over the ends of both sides of the bag,
depending on how the bag prints on your printer. Tape or glue the folded-over
flap to close the bag.
Special Notes:
* Remember when using glue to allow the glue time to dry between steps.
* Printer types and settings do vary. These instructions should provide enough
information for folding and closing the bag. However, it always best to do one
test print and fold before printing several bags.
You can find a tutor for folding this bag at Jan’s Reading Room
bag tutor which is a Valentine but the same procedure applies. There is also how to fold
video tutor offered by Moms Break,
which is a holiday tutor but the same procedure applies.
